Plant Description

Annual erect, nearly glabrous herb, hardly 1m in height; petiole as long as or longer than leaf blade; stipules ovate, acute; leaves suborbicular or cordate, 5-angled or shallowly lobed; flowers axillary, several together on long peduncle, the peduncle equals to or longer than flower; epicalyx lobes 3, distinct, small, free, ovate entire, shorter than calyx; calyx cupular, lobes-5, broadly triangular; corolla 3-4 cm across, pink or pale rose, streaked with purple, about 4 times longer than calyx; petals notched at the extreme base, emarginate connate, claws bearded; staminal tube antheriferous to the top without sterile teeth, staminal column shorter than petals; carpels 10-15, ovary many celled, ovule solitary in each; ripe carpels 1-seeded, mericarps 10-15, indehiscent, separating from a short, conical torus, reticulate at the back, nearly glabrous; seeds brownish-black.
