Plant Description

Small, evergreen tree, 8-12 m in height; leaves alternate, crowded at the end of branches, oblong-lanceolate or elliptic-oblong, acute at apex, entire sometime undulate, shining, green above, glabrous, paler beneath, petioles rusty-tomentose, latex milky; flowers solitary, axillary; sepals in two whorls of 3 each, broadly ovate to orbicular, rusty tomentose outside; corolla dull white, urceolate, lobes-5, ovate, half as long as the tube; stamens 6-8, alternating with petaloid staminodes; ovary villous, stigmas 8 lobed; berries globose ellipsoid, fleshy, rusty-brown; seeds 3-5, ellipsoid or obovoid, compressed, black.
