Plant Description

Annual, erect, viscid herb, densely covered with sticky, glandular hairs; stem stout, fistular, subterete; leaves opposite or the upper ones alternate, orbicular or broadly ovate, 20-40 cm across, cordate at base, dentate, subobtuse at apex, covered with glandular hairs on both surfaces; petioles stout, fistular, as long as the lamina; flowers tubular in lax, drooping, racemes, borne in the bifurcation of upper branches; bracteoles 2, pink, foetid, yellowish-white, glandular, pubescent, persistent; calyx yellowish-white, 5 partite upto base, segments unequal, glandular pubescent; corolla obscurely campanulate, limbs 2-lipped, lobes-5, imbricate; stamens 4, didymous, rarely-2; ovary 2 (sometimes 1-celled), style filiform, stigma shortly 2-lobed, ovules many; capsule curved beaked ending into 2-sharp, curved spines; seeds many, smooth.
