Plant Description

Annual, erect herb or undershrub; branches hairy; leaves ovate-oblong, entire or irregularly, serrate-dentate, petiole long; flowers axillary, solitary or 2-4 in clusters, epicalyx lobes-3, linear to narrowly lanceolate; sepals campanulate; lobes 5, deltoid; petals 5, yellow, longer than sepals, spathulate, ciliate at the base; stamens numerous, filaments connate into staminal tube, antheriferous to the summit with no sterile teeth; carpels 5-12, connate at base; styles and stigma as many as carpels; ripe carpels separating from the short torus, mericarps 10-14, curved, shortly beaked or not, indehiscent; seed solitary, ascending in each cell, reniform.
