Perennial herbs, hispidly villous, strongly aromatic, fleshy stem, somewhat 4-angled to subterete; leaves opposite, fleshy, fragile, very aromaticious, broadly ovate or cordate, crenate, tomentose, shortly petiolate; verticillasters of distantly arranged terminal spikes; calyx lip ovate, acute, membranus, lower acuminate, throat villous within; corolla pale purple, tube short, throat inflated, upper lip broad, boat shaped, lower lip long, projecting; stamens-4, filaments free, anther cells usually confluent; disc usually produced equalling the ovary, style subequally bifid; nutlets orbicular, ovoid or oblong, smooth, granulate. |
