Perennial herb, extensisly creeping by rhizomes or by stolons, forming matted tufls; culms erect, slender, glabrous; leaves narrow, linear, glabrous, glaucous, sheath compressed , glabrous, ligules ciliate; spikes 2-8, digitale green or purplish, rachis compressed or angular, scabrerulous, spikelets rachilla produced beyond palea as a slender naked bristle; glumes subegeral, distinctly shorter than lemma, lanceolate, acuteor mucronate, keels smooth or scabrid; lemma obliquely oblong to semi-ovate, 3-nerved, lateral nerues close to margins, hairs simple, not clarellate, palea linear oblong, shorter than lemma, obtuse, keels scaberulous; anthers 3 very small grains long, ablong. |
