Perennial herb; culms erect, glabrous, waxy below the nodes, nodes tumid hairy; leaves linear-lanceolate, margins scabrid midrin very stout, sheath glabrous, ligule deltoid, membranous, ciliate; inflorescence a large pyramindal panicle no nodes bearded, rhachis breaking up at maturity, pedcels glabrous, spikelets conered with white silky hairs, calus with long hairs, lower glume equaling spikelet, margin inserted upper glums similar to lower; lower floret bisexual; lemma awnless, reduced; stigma purple; anther 3; coryopsis cyindial, purple. |
