Annuals ; culms 10-50cm tall, erect or ascending from deceuribent base, slender, sheath glabrous, striate ; ligules ciliate ; Inflorescence a delicate, open panicle ; lower branches fascicled or subwhorled with glands, long hairy in the axils of branches ; spikelets very narrow, straight, 3-5 mm long ; lemma acute with purple tip, 1.2-1.5 mm long ; palea smooth ; anthers 3, dark pink 0.2 mm long ; caryopsis brown ; ellipsoid, 0.6-1 mm long.
