Annual herb, culms 30-90 tall, erect or ascending; leaves 15-30 cm long; sheaths loose, glabrous; ligules membranous; inflorescence usually adense panicle; spatheoles cymbi-form, 1.7-2.5 cm long, acuminate; involucral spikelets 4.5-5.5 mm sharply acate; lower glume 4.2-5 mm, with glden brown tubercled hairs; upper glum equal to the lower, 3-nerued, glabrous; lemma hyaline, 1-nerved, epalete; sessile spikelets bisexual; 4.5 mm, cellus hariy, lower glume 4mm, 6-7 nerved; upper glume similar; upper lemma with 0.5 mm own; anthers 3, yellow 1.5 mm caryopsis brown, subcylindrical, 5-6 mm, callus hairy.
