Plant Description

Annual, erect herb; stem sparsely branched, pubescent with short, simple hairs; lower leaves long petioled, more or less deeply 3-lobed; upper ones sometimes unifoliate; lobes lanceolate to ovate, acute, coarsely crenate or serrate; hairy on both surfaces; stipules filiform setaceous; flower white or light pink solitary axillary or in terminal lax racemes; pedicels jointed near the apex, bracteoles linear, minute or sometimes absent; calyx 5 lobed, persistent, sepals lanceolate, acute, 3-nerved, connate below, enlarged in fruits; petals, white, obovate, glabrous; staminal column as long as petals, antheriferous throughout; style filiform; stigma discoid; capsule ovoid, beaked, hairy at the top, not exceeding the calyx, 3-4 seeds in each locule; seeds, tubercled, tetragonal to globose, black, non cottony, smooth or pilose.
