Annual, erect, herbs or undershrubs, branches pubescent with minute, glutinous hairs; leaves ovate-oblong, sometimes, cordate, acuminate, coarsely toothed, clothed with stellate and gland hairs, downy beneath; petiole 2-3 cm long; flowers small, yellow, axillary, solitary or in raceme or panicle; pedicels slender, jointed in the middle; epicalyx absent; calyx campanulate, sepals-5, hairy outside, glabrous inside; petals-5, obovate, glabrous, free above, slightly connate below, adnate to base of staminal tube; stamens numerous, staminal column usually shorter than petals, dividing at the summit into numerous anther-bearing filaments, anthers monothecous; carpels-5, awned, keeled, smooth or reticulate; styles as many as the carpels, connate below, stigma capitate; mericarps 5, tetrahedral, hairy at the top, awns-5, short or awnless; seeds ovoid, brown-black. |
