Plant Description

Annual, erect herb or undershrub, sometimes suffrutescent, branches glabrous or sometimes pubescent with stellate hairs; leaves polymorphous, lower palmately 3 lobed, upper rhomboid-lanceolate, 3-7 nerved, apex acute-or somewhat 3-lobed, variable in amount and quality of pubescence; petioles sparingly stellate-pubescent; stipules ovate, acuminate; flowers in dense, extra axillary cymes, peduncles and pedicels very short; bracts subulate; sepals oblong, apiculate; petals yellow, oblong, cup-shaped, clawed and ciliate at base; stamens 5-15, attached on a glandular torus; ovary 2-5-celled, 2-ovules in each locule, oblong, hairy; style filiform; stigma 2-5 lobed; capsule ovoid, hairy at base, echinate with hooked, bristles, glabrous; seeds dark brown, albuminous.
