Perennial evergreen shrub, usually found in bushy or sub arboreous form, with branches slender, cylindric, puberulent to glabrous; leaves alternate, compound, up to 10 cm, leaflets 5-9, ovate, obovate, or rhomboid, glabrous, shining, base oblique, apex obtuse, often notched, petiolules short; flowers ebracteate, very fragrant, white in terminal or axillary many flowered corymbs, pedicels pubescent; calyx cupular with small glands, oblong, obtuse, 5- lobed; petals 5, white, oblong, recurved or spreading; stamens 10, alternately longer; ovary 2 celled, style slender; stigma capitate; ovules solitary or 2 superposed; fruit berry, ovoid or ellipsoid, with tapering ends, about 2 cm across, bright red when ripe, 1-2 seeded. |
