Perennial, beautiful shrub with shining leaves, deep green, lustrous, pinnately compound, trifoliate, with dotted glands; leaflets oblong to obovate, large about 8cm long, glabrous; flowers zygomorphic, bisexual, artistic in shape and appearance, born singly or in clusters of 3 to 5; sepals 2, foliaceous, spoon shaped, pale green; petals 5, bright pink, asymmetrical, connate at the base, forming a short corolla tube; stamens many, inserted round a large disk; filaments variously connate, compressed at the base; ovary multilocular; ovules 4-8, biseriate; fruit berry, many seeded. |
