Medium, deciduous tree with a spreading, flat crown; outer bark green to ash coloured, peeling off in smooth, thin, flakes; leaves alternate, exstipulate, imparipinnate, deciduous; leaflets sessile, opposite, pubescent, ovate-lanceolate, base oblique, margin crenate serrate, tip rounded, crowded near ends of the branches; flowers small, bisexual, white in axillary racemes usually shorter than leaves; calyx-5 toothed, persistent; petals-5, imbricate, ovate, small, inflexed, white; stamens 10 (5 long, 5 short), inserted at the base of annular disk; ovary 3-celled, sessile; style short, stigma 3-lobed, ovules 2 in each cell, pendulous; drupe velvety, dehiscent, trigonous, containing 3, 1-seeded pyrenes which finally separate; seeds pendulous, compressed. |
