Annual, slender, ascending, glabrous herb, 20-40 cm high; leaves unifiate, odd pinnate, stipellate; leaflets linear-lanceolate, rounded at base, acute, glabrous above, sparsely pubescent beneath the midrib, stipels linear, caducous, scarious; flowers in terminal racemes, 8-15 cm with 10-20 distant pairs of very shortly pedicellate flowers; bracts scarious; calyx ciliated only on edges, much longer than first joint and adpressed to the pod, teeth twice as long as the furrowed funnel shaped tube; corolla stamens diadelphous(9+1), anthers uniform: corolla purple red; ovary sessile or stipitate, many ovuled; style incurved; stigma capitate; pods distinctly 4-8 jointed, slightly moniliform, turgid, exserted, smooth or faintly or namented, neither veined, nor rugose. |
