Annual, erect, stout, ascending, sub-glabrous herb; leaves unifoliolate on short hairy petioles, oblong with subcordate base, obtuse, subglabrous beneath, reticulately veined; stipelae longer than petiole, linear-lanceolate, acute, scarious, glabrous; flowers 6-12 in dense racemes, adpressed to the sub-glabrous rachis, pedicels shorter than calyx; bracts large, ovate-acuminate; calyx longer than first joint of pod, glabrous on back, teeth linear-lanceolate, exceeding the tube, minutely ciliate; corolla pink-purple with yellow throat; stamens diadelphous (9+1), anthers uniform; ovary nearly sessile, many ovuled, style incurved, stigma capitate; pods 3-6 jointed, broad marked with prominent transverse ribs. |
