Plant Description
Deciduous erect tree about 10 m height and glabrous branches; bark greenish-grey; leaves 6-10 cm long, imparipinnate, rigidly subcoriaceous with slightly raised veins, green above, paler and rather glaucous belo, leaflets 11-15, distinctly alternate, rounded at both ends, margins entire, tip emarginate, glabrous on both sides; flowers in panicled racemes, much shorter than the leaves, branches of panicle wide spreading, silky or subglabrous; calyx more or less silky, teeth obtuse, shorter than the tube, lowest rather longer; corolla yellowish white, twice as the calyx, standard broad with a long claw; keel much shorter than wings; stamens 5+5, monadelphous, sheath slit down to base, forming 2-bundles, anthers uniform; ovary stalked, few ovuled, styler short, incurved, glabrous, stigma capitate; pod indehiscent, strap shaped, straight, thin, obtuse, narrowed gradually into a stalk, usually 1 seeded, sometimes 2-3 seeded, thinkened and veined opposite the seeds. |
