Plant Description

Annual, prostrate herb with numerous slender, glabrous, branches rooting at nodes; nodal appendages more or less copious, pilose that form a ring of long, white hairs; leaves opposite, subsessile, flat, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, fleshy; flowers solitary, terminal, surrounded by 4-5 leaved involucre and long silky hairs; sepals-4, hyaline, united at base, calyx tube half immersed in the extremity of axis; petal 4, yellow, oblong, united below; stamens 8-12, filaments hairy at base; styles long, filiform, 4-fid to the middle; ovary ovoid, half inferior, half adnate, 1-celled; ovules 2-many on basal or central column; capsules ovoid, dehiscent; seeds minute, tubercled, brown.
