Erect, stout, annual herbs; leaves even pinnate, rachis ending into a bristly point; leaflets 2-3 pairs, lanceolate, mucronate, entire, glabrous, stipulate; flowers1-6, white in axillary racemes; calyx tube campanulate, often oblique; teeth unequal; corolla white, more or less exserted, standard broad, wings dark violet, keel shorter; stamens diadelphous mouth of staminal sheath very oblique, anthers uniform; ovary sessile, many ovuled, style short, filiform or slightly flattened; stigma captate; pods dehiscent, not jointed, pubescent; seeds ovoid-oblong.
