Erect unarmed, shrub or small tree, 3-5 m high with obscurly downy, angular branches; leaves slightly cordate, 9-11 nerved, about 7-15 cm long, slightly longer than broad, cleft not reaching half way down, ending in acuminate lobes, finely pubescent below; stipules subulate; flowers white, shortly peduncled in axillary or leaf opposed, corymbose racemes; bracts-bracteoles linear-subulate; calyx spathaceous, narrow into about 3 cm long point cleft at the tip into 5 subulate teeths; petals 5, subequal, oblong, obtuse as long as the calyx, white; stamens 10, fertile, filaments free, filiform; ovary stipitate; style long, stigma sub-terminal or peltate; pods about 8-12 x 1.5-2 cm, linear or oblong, firm, glabrous, flattened with a rib on each side of the upper suture, continuous within, dehiscent; seeds 8-12, orbicular, flattened, albuminous. |
