Plant Description

Small, crooked, bushy tree with drooping branches; bark grayish black with vertical cracks; branchlets densely tomentose; leaves broader than long, divided one-third to half way down into two lobes, rigidly coriaceous, clothed with more or less grey pubescence, usually cordate at base, 7-9 nerved, margin entire, apex deeply emarginated, petiole short; flowers small, yellowish white in terminal or leaf opposed, simple, 5-10 cm long, axillary, short peduncled, lax racemes, with densely grey downy rachis; pedicels short; bracteoles subulate; calyx tube turbinate, not splitting up, limbs entire, glabrescent; petals 5, light yellow, equal, oblanceolate, with distinct claw, acute; stamens 10, all fertile, filaments hairy at base, anthers oblong; ovary compressed, grooved, many ovuled, style short, stigma sessile; pods linear, oblong or falcate, turgid, glabrous, woody, indehiscent; seeds 12-20, compressed.
