Much branched shrubs or small trees; bark grey-brown; prickles few, scattered on the branches; leaves bipinnate, alternate, 11-14 cm long, pinnae 12-18 pairs; leaflets 20-24 pairs, sessile, membranous, oblong, rarely obovate, margin entire, apex obtuse, glabrous above, glabrescent beneath; lower pedicel more than twice the length of flower; flowers orange-yellow or bright yellow in terminal broad racemes; sepals 5, unequal, oblong-obovate, lower (one) more projected, glabrous; petals 5, yellow, crisped, limbs oblanceolate, distinctly clawed, upper one smaller than laterals; stamens 10, all fertile, subequal, filaments bright red, 3-4 times as long as petals, anthers uniform, oblong versatile; ovary stipitate, globose, style slender, glabrescent; pods nearly straight, 6-11x2 cm, broadly linear, flat, glabrescent, sutures not winged, tip beaked, slightly yellow or brown; seeds 7-10, small, obovate, oblong, smooth, glabrous, brown. |
