Medium, semideciduous tree; young shoots densely covered with rusty wooly pubescence; leaves alternate, obscurely distichous with silky tomentose, leaflets 10-20 pairs, very close, oblong, rounded at both ends, sharply mucronate, new leaflets with copper tone; flowers pink to red in clustered panicles; sepals-5, suborbicular, concave, imbricate; petals-5, red, one with yellow spots; stamens 10, 7 perfect, 3 undeveloped, filament stout, subequal, anthers dehiscing by terminal pores; ovary stipitate, obovoid, many ovuled, style incurved; pods cylindrical, 40-60 cm long, woody, slightly torrulose; seeds gummy with foul smelling pulp. |
