Evergreen, tall, unarmed tree; bark smooth, grey-brown; young branches clothed with rusty brown tomentum; leaves alternate, distinctly petioled, pinnae opposite, 8-10 pairs, sessile, ligulate, oblong, unequal sided, subcordate at base, margins entire, apex obtuse, slightly tomentose beneath, nerves distinct; panicles large, much branched, terminal or axillary, with reddish brown or rusty tomentose; bracts minute, lanceolate, caducous; flowers bright yellow; calyx lobes 5, oblong, subequal, subclavate, rusty tomentose; petals 5, reddish yellow, oblong-suborbicular, subequal, imbricate, spreading; stamens 10, subequal, free, filaments slender with tuft of silky hairs at base, anthers uniform, linear, oblong, free; ovary few ovuled, sessile, glabrescent, style long, filiform, incurved, stigma large, peltate; pods oblong, flat, thin, hard, indehiscent, copper brown, 1-4 seeded with a firm broad wing on both sutures; seeds obovate-oblong, compressed.
