Unarmed, medium sized, evergreen, xerophytic tree; smooth, white bark; branches pendulous; leaves reduced, fall off early; phyllodes alternate, falcate, oblong, coriaceous, glabrous, parallel nerved, entire, obtuse, tapering towards the ends; flowers small, yellow, in cylindrical, lax spikes; calyx spreading, broadly campanulate, minutely toothed; petals yellow, as long as the calyx, united in lower half; stamens many, free, much exserted, anthers minute, glandless; ovary stalked or sometimes sessile, many ovuled, style filiform, stigma capitate; pods flat, oblong or ligulate, compressed, dry, hard, spirally twisted, woody, brown, dehiscent; seeds compressed, few to many.
