Small, gregarious, armed tree; branches, flat-topped or umbrella shaped; branchlets pubescent, reddish brown; stipular spines long, white, straight, sharply pointed; pinnae 3-10 pairs, pinnules 7-15 pairs; glabrous or densely pubescent; leaflets linear-oblong; rachis glabrous to densely pubescent with a small gland at the junction of the apical pair of pinnae; globose heads panicled or fascicled; peduncles pubescent, crowded at upper nodes; flowers white or pale yellow in sessile or subsessile slightly, scented; bracts minute, caducous; calyx campanulate, 5 toothed, glabrous; corolla creamy white, 5- toothed, glabrous; stamens much exserted, filaments long; ovary stipitate, glabrous to villous, pubescent, style slender; pods indehiscent, oblong, spirally twisted or almost straight, leathery, glabrous, sutures rather raised; seeds oblique or parallel to long axis of pod. |
