Large deciduous, unarmed tree; rachis glabrous or downy, a large gland near the base of petiole, leaves bipinnate, pinnae 4-8, pinnules 4-9 pairs, with a large gland between the lowest pair, leaflets, sub-sessile, obliquely elliptic or oblong, glabrous or finely grey, pubescent, membranous, rigidly coriaceous; flowers many, creamy white, pedicellate in axillary heads, solitary or in umbels, peduncle cup shaped or globose, very fragrant; calyx campanulate, 5-toothed, pubescent; corolla greenish or creamy yellow, twice as the calyx, lobes short, lanceolate; stamens many, monadelphous, filaments many times longer than corolla, anthers minute; ovary sessile, style filiform, stigma minute, capitate; pods strap shaped, thin, ligulate, sutures not thickened, firm, about 10-15 cm long, 3-4 cm broad, flat, yellow to brown, 6-10 seeded. |
