Large, unarmed, deciduous tree with yellowish or greenish white bark; petiole with a large gland near the base; leaves evenly bipinnate, glabrous; pinnae 2-6 pairs, pinnules 6-12 pairs; leaflets, obtuse, glabrous, rigidly subcoriaceous, grey beneath, obliquely truncate, midrib towards the lower edge, petiolules long; peduncles long, heads small, many flowered, usually in fascicle of 3-5 on lax, corymbose raceme or terminal panicles; flowers sessile, creamy white; calyx glabrous, teeth-5, short, triangular, distinct; corolla tubular, deeply cleft, 5-lobed, lanceolate, connate below, twice as long as calyx; stamens many, monadelphous at the base, pale, thin, glabrous, yellow, filaments long, anthers minute; ovary sessile or shortly stalked, style long, filiform, pods dehiscent, flexible, reddish-brown, shining, thin, ligulate, sutures not thickened; seeds 6-12, broadly ovate, much flattened, pale brown. |
