Succulent, prostrate or ascending, glabrous, perennial herb herb; branches many from the base, stipular hairs loose at nodes; leaves alternate, fleshy, linear-lanceolate, borne all around the stem, very shortly petiolate, subterete; flowers solitary, terminal, sessile, large, about 2-3 cm across, attractive, pink, regular, bisexual; sepals 2, broadly ovate; petals 5 or more in rossette, rose purple, deep pink or white, spreading, entire or notched at apex; stamens 10, anthers yellow, filaments purple, style branched into 5-10, broad, stigmatic lobes; ovary half inferior, half adnate, 1-celled; ovules 2-many on basal or central column; capsule 2-3 valvular, dehiscent, many seeded, seeds reniform, tubercled, black.
