Tree up to 25 m high; bark greenish-white; smooth or rough, fissured, flanking off into large, flat pieces; leaves subopposite, oblong or elliptic, nearly glabrous beneath, apex obtuse or subacute, base cordate or suddenly narrowed; petioles with 1 or 2 prominent glands immediately at the base of lamina; bracteoles very small; flowers sessile in short, axillary spikes or in terminal, branched racemes; calyx glabrous, mouth broadly campanulate, teeth triangular, deciduous; petals absent; disk epigynous, clothed with yellowish or reddish hairs; stamens 10, inserted on calyx tube; ovary 1-celled, style long, ovules 2-3, pendulous; drupe 5 angled, oblong, fibrous, woody, indehiscent, glabrous, dark brown with 5 hard, wings striated with numerous, curved veins. |
