Unarmed, erect, scandent, profusely branched shrub; primary stem terete, flattened laterally woody at base, secondary stems flattened, elliptic-oblong, acuminate, margins shallow to deep crenate, sometimes undulate; flowers produced from nodes of flattened branches; receptacle, brown, narrow; flower nocturnal, very fragrant, creamy white; bracteoles short, outer tepals linear, acute, reddish to amber, inner tepals oblanceolate to oblong, acuminate, white; stamens numerous, greenish white or white, filaments slender; ovary inferior, 1-celled, ovules many on parietal placenta; style terminal, greenish white or white, stigma 2-many rayed; berry oblong, anglular, many seeded, purple-red. |
