Plant Description

Annual, strong smelling, slender, branched, glabrous, herb; petioles long; leaves simple, compound or decompounds (1-3 pinnate), basal leaves ternately lobed, segments ovate, crenate, margin toothed, upper leaves pinnately dissected, segments linear; umbels compound with or without involucre of small, linear bracts and involucre of few, linear bracteoles; peripheral flowers zygomorphic, inner or central flowers actinomorphic; calyx teeth prominent, small, acute, often unequal; petals-5, often inflexed, free, obovate, emarginate, valvate or imbricate, white or purple, of the outer flowers unequal; stamens 5, epigynous; ovary 2-locular, crowned with a large epigynous disk; 1-ovule, pendulous in each locule, styles 2; fruit subglobose or globose, ribbed, of 2 indehiscent carpels, pendulous from summit of the carpophore, each 5-ridged.
