Annual herb; stem moderately tall; branches more or less hispid; leaves shallowly lobed, upper leaves enclosing inflorescence, rachis of inflorescence and pedicels thickened; flowers in long racemes, flower buds fleshy, white or yellow in long racemes; sepals erect, usually saccate at the base; stamens usually 6, tetradynamous, ovary 1-celled, many ovuled, parietal placenta, style beaked, stigma truncate or 2-lobed; fruit siliqua, more or less appressed to rachis, 1-seeded; seeds many, globose, uniseriate, reticulately veined.
