Large or small tree; leaves petiolate, stipulate, large, orbicular or cordate, acuminate, coriaceous, pubescent beneath; stipules orbicular or oblong; flowers yellow, usually bracteate, densely crowded in solitary, axillary or panicled, globose heads; peduncles stout; receptacle hairy; bracts very small; calyx campanulate, tube 5-angled, lobes-5, valvate; corolla funnel shaped, tube long, throat glabrous, lobes 5, valvate; stamens as many as the corolla lobes on the mouth of corolla tube, filaments short, anthers dorsifixed, dehiscing laterally; disc epigynous, annular or cushion shaped; ovaries confluent, inferior, 2-celled, style slender, filiform, stigma clavate; capsule of 2 dehiscent cocci, cuneate, many seeded; seeds oblong, winged.
