Annual, erect or decumbent glandular hirsute herb, leaves opposite, broadly ovate, cordate at base, acute at apex, margin sharply serrate, whitish hirsute on both surfaces; heads in dense terminal corymbs, homogamous, involucral bracts bi-seriate, outer bracts linear-lanceolate, green, entire, acuminate, densely glandular, hairy, longer than inner; receptacle convex; florets 2.5-3 mm in length, all tubular, serrulate; pale purple or pink; stamens 5, included in corolla tube, epipetalous, syngenecious, anthers appendaged at base; ovary 1-celled, 1-ovuled, solitary, basal, obtuse, style arms elongate, obtuse; achenes linear-oblong, black, scabrous on the ribs; pappus of 5 scales, lanceolate, acuminate. |
