Herb erect, softly pubescent; stem much branched, pilose; leaves alternate, simple, margins variable, lower pinnatifid, upper entire, oblong-lanceolate or spathulate, pubescent; heads solitary on long peduncles; receptacle convex with bristle-like fringes among the florets; involucral bracts 2-3 seriate, linear-lanceolate green, acute, hispid outer smaller; ray florets female, fertile, tubular, 4-5 toothed, in few series with yellow or red corolla; disk florets bisexual, fertile, tubular with yellow corolla; achenes comressed or angular, ribbed, rugose, densely hairy, pappus white of scales like bristles. |
