Plant Description

Annual or perennial, much branched, glabrous herbs, 20-40 cm high; stem naked or leaf bearing; leaves sinuate lobed, pinnatifid or runcinate lobes irregularly lobulate in basal rosette, lobes obovate-oblong or spathulate, dentate, teeth often white, cartilaginous; heads yellow, sessile, narrow, solitary or sometimes 6-10 in clustered racemose; involucral bracts overtopping the pappus, 3-seriate, outer very short, ovate, smaller than inner linear, oblong with scarious margins; corolla 1.2 cm long, ligulate, 5-toothed; achenes columnar, compressed, thickly 4-ribbed, rugose, much shorter than the soft, hairy, white pappus.
