Annual, erect, diffusely branched herb, reaching up to 1.5 m height; stem longitudinally ridged or grooved, covered with white, fine, pubescence; leaves alternate, 1-2 pinnately dissected; heads in terminal, white, panicles; involucral bracts 2- seriate, outer bracts long, herbaceous; inner ones thinner, hyaline; ray florets 5, female very small, indistinct, membranous, urceolate with indistinct lobes; disk florets infundibuliform or tubular, 5-lobed; stamens-5, peripetalous, syngenecious; ovary-1 celled, 1-ovuled, solitary, basal, obtuse, style arms elongate; achenes not spinous, obovate, black-crowned with remnant of corolla, appendages and styles; pappus absent. |
