Annual, aromatic, erect, sparsely hairy, branched herb, reaching up to 50 cm height; leaves opposite decussate, upper ones alternate, pinnate, compound, glabrous; leaflets lanceolate-oblong, sharply serrate, glandular along margins, below the serrations; head solitary, axillary or terminal, long peduncled, heterogamous; flowers yellow; involucral bracts, uniseriate, tip acute, glandular; ray florets many seriate, ligulate, female, fertile; disk florets bisexual, tubular, 5-toothed or ligulate; pappus with 1-2 long awned scales and 2-3 sharp bristles at the top; stamens-5, syngenecious, epipetalous; ovary oblong, inferior, 1-locular, 1-ovuled, basal placenta; achenes black glabrous, scabrous on the angles; pappus white, with 4, unequal, long awned scales, 2-3 times shorter than achenes, blunt. |
