Annual, erect or procumbent, weak herb; leaves opposite, rarely alternate, pinnatisect, segments few, narrow, filiform, glabrous; heads with very long, slender peduncles, terminal-solitary, yellow or pink, heterogamous; involucral bracts 1-2 seriate, outer bracts herbaceous, short, broadly ovate, inner bracts longer, membranous, slightly pubescent; receptacles flat or convex; ray florets 6-10 in single whorl, female, fertile, ligulate or 2-lipped; disk florets bisexual, fertile, tubular, 5-lobed; stamens 5, epipetalous, syngenecious, anthers sagitate; ovary 1-celled, 1-ovuled, solitary, basal, obtuse; achenes linear, oblong, obscurely ribbed, often with a beak, brown; pappus hairs few, longer than achenes, bristly, yellowish white.
