Annual, erect, hoary, pubescent herb, about 20-70 cm in height; stems, branched, slender, ribbed; leaves alternate, petiolate, ovate, lanceolate or elliptic, obtuse or acute, obscurely or deeply toothed, pubescent on both surfaces; heads homogamous about 20 flowered in loose, terminal, flat topped corymbs or panicles; peduncle 1-2 cm long, slender with small bracts at the axils; involucral bracts, shorter than flowers, 2-3 seriate, inner longer than outer ones, linear with awned tips; receptacle convex, naked or pitted, shortly, hairy; florets pink or purple, all bisexual, fertile, equal, tubular, slender, narrowly, 5-lobed, anther bases obtuse; style arms subulate; achenes minute, terete, neither angled nor ribbed; pappus up to 4 mm long, white, outer hairs white or dirty white, rather short, shining, flattend, deciduous; inner, longer, rigid, paleaceous. |
