Perennial, robust, scandent shrub; branches, petioles and inflorescence hoary, finely grooved; leaves petiolate, oblong, linear to lanceolate or oblong, entire, obtuse or acute, glabrous above, thinly silky, hairy beneath; heads 3-5 flowered in narrow, terminal, short, loose panicles; capitula clustered at the end of divaricating branches; involucre bracts few, small, ovate, obtuse, 4-seriate, tinged purple at tip; florets all all bisexual, fertile, equal, corolla tubular, slender, narrowly, 5-lobed, pink or purple, sparsely glandular; anther bases obtuse; style arms subulate;; achenes minute, compressed, pale brown, 5-8 ribbed, glabrous; pappus persistent, white, outer hairs few, inner setae scabrid.
