A large, subscandent shrub; branches, angular, glabrous or nearly so; leaves opposite, imparipinnate, leaflets 7-11, terminal, somewhat larger than rhomboid-oblong lateral, apiculate at apex, rounded at the base, sessile or subsessile, midrib hairy, leaflets glabrous, bract foliaceous, small; flowers very fragrant, in lax, axillary or terminal cymes, longer than the leaves, pedicels up to 2.5 cm long, calyx-tube short; teeth half as long as the tube, lobes-5, linear, acute; corolla white, often tinged with pink or red outside, tube up to 2 cm long, lobes elliptic or obovate; stamens-2, included in corolla tube, filaments very short, anthers oblong; ovary 2-celled, ovule 2 in each, style short, stigmas 2, linear; berries oblong. |
