Large shrub, branches drooping, covered with fine velvety, pubescence or tomentum; leaves opposite, bifarious, deltoid to ovate, acuminate often mucronate, softly pubescent or tomentose on both surfaces, base rounded or often cordate; petioles densely villous; flowers sessile in dense or axillary, capituliform cymes, often at the extremities of short axillary branches not exceeding the upper leaves; bract small, linear, ovate acute, foliaceous, green; calyx densely, fulvous-villous teeth 5, linear, subulate, fulvous, with yellowish hairs; corolla white, sometimes with red tinge outside, glabrous, tube longer than lobes, elliptic-oblong, acute, often mucronate; stamens-2, included in corolla tube, filaments very short, anthers oblong; ovary 2-celled, ovule 2 in each, style short, stigmas 2, linear; fruits berries, simple or didymous, elisoid, black. |
