Plant Description

Erect, scandent or twining shrub; branches pubescent; leaves opposite, variable in size, simple, membranous, usually broadly ovate or elliptic, entire, glabrous or nearly so, base rounded, cuneate or subcordate, rarely acute, primary nerved tufted at the base in the axil beneath, secondary nerved distirct; petiole short, hairy; flowers white, very fragrant, solitary or usually in terminal, 3-flowered cymes; pedicels short, hairy; bracts small, linear; calyx hairy, teeth 5-9, linear-subulate, less than half cm; corolla salver shaped, white, lobes as long as the tube, narrowly oblong, obtuse; stamens-2, included in corolla tube, filaments very short, anthers oblong; ovary 2-celled, ovule 2in each, style short, stigmas 2, linear; ripe carpels 1-2, subglobose black, surrounded by the persistent, suberect, subulate calyx.
