Small or large, scandent or erect shrub; leaves opposite or whorled, obovate to oblong, rounded at apex; petiole short with interpetiolar glands; flowers large, pink about 10 cm across in axillary or terminal cymes; sepals free, ovate; corolla pink with dark throat, lobes spreading or slightly recurved, tube short, cylindric at the base, dilated in the middle, bell shaped above, limbs broadly ovate, overlapping to left; stamens-5, epipetalous, included, anthers, sagitate, filaments slender; ovary 1-2 celled, ovules many or pareital placenta; follicles up to 15 cm long.
