Plant Description

Annual or perennial herb, stem slender, patently villous, twining; leaves oblong, cordate, entire, acute or acuminate with mucronate point, sparsely or densely villous on both surfaces; petiole about 2-3 cm long, densely clothed with reflexed hairs; inforescence axillary cyme usually 1-3 flowered, flowers rarely solitary, subsessile, bracts small, linear to ovate, hirsute, persistent; pedicels very short or absent, sepals 5, subequal, ovate-acuminate, pilose, corolla pink or purple, campanulate or funnel shaped, densely pilose outside, darker within, tube short, limbs spreading; stamens 5 epipetalous included, filaments glabrous except at the base, anthers oblong; ovary 2-loculed, 4-ovuled, very hairy; style slender, stigma 2 lobed; capsule broadly ovoid to globose, pubescent; seeds across ellipsoid, puberulous, minutely reticulate, dark brown to grey or black.
