A diffuse or twining, pubescent, annual herb; stems clothed with long spreading hairs; leaves fulvous, hirsute on both surfaces, deeply and palmately 5-9 lobed, not touching the centre or base, lobes elliptic, acuminate, petioles 2-8 cm long; flowers 3 or more together in axillary capitate, involucrate cymes; peduncles as long as petioles, densely hairy; outer bracts ovate or elliptic, longer and broader than the inner, sometimes cordate at the base; sepals-5, subequal, elongate, lanceolate, acute, hirsute, hardly enlarged in fruit; corolla white or pink, funnel shaped, sparsely hairy or not, tube narrow, mouth suddenly widens; stamen 5, included, filaments filiform, anthers oblong, glabrous; ovary 2-celled, glabrous; style filiform, stigma 2 lobed; capsule ovoid, 4 valved; seeds 2 or 4, ellipsoid, small, gray, minutely pubescent, velvety or glabrous. |
