Annual or perennial twiners; stem glabrous, much branched, terete; leaves broadly ovate, 3-lobed, acuminate at apex, deeply cordate at base, entire; flowers in dichotomous, axillary, 3-9 flowered, long peduncled cymes; pedicels short, thickened; sepals ovate-lanceolate, hyaline, margined, fine pubescent on the back; corolla blue or bluish purple with white or yellow tinge in throat, infundibuliform or funnel shaped, 5-plaited, shortly lobed; stamens-5, included, epipetalous, anthers oblong, filaments filiform, glabrous; style filiform, stigma 2 lobed, ovary 2-loculed, glabrous; capsules globose, 4 valved, 4 seeded; seeds black, minutely puberulent.
